Streaky glass, how?

Hello, I’m new to KS and have searched the forum and web for guidance on creating a streaky glass material, but I haven’t found a clear explanation.

Unfortunately, I can’t find high-resolution images of streaky glass sheets to use as a reference, which would be a great starting point. These sheets typically consist of two colors of opal glass mixed together, sometimes even blended with transparent glass. I believe I need to use a Color Composite node in the material graph, but I’m unsure how to set it up or connect it properly. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Example of this glass:

The color composite node is like the same as the layer options in Photoshop. So you can use it to blend multiple textures to one using things as multiply, substract, add etc.

Since it all looks pretty much opaque you might get also really far by just using different textures as opacity mask for layered labels. I think that would give you way more control about the looks because you can approach every ‘label’ as a different color of glass. That adds I think flexibility which makes it also much easier to mix different colors later on.

With the composite node the effect of the node is depending on the input textures so different colors will have a very different outcome. What works for one doesn’t work for another.

Maybe you can use a the procedural marble as part of the opacity mask for labels but I personally would look for a high resolution flame/liquid-like textures you can use.

Thank you for your response, Oscar! I reviewed the marble material and now have a clear understanding of how it functions. This should help me move forward. I’ll search for a high-resolution texture to use. Appreciate the helpful tips!
